Mediaset: Donnarumma wants to become a leader for Milan – renewal talks to start soon

By Oliver Fisher -

Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma wishes to remain at AC Milan beyond 2021 and talks over his renewal will begin after the window shuts.

The 21-year-old is currently on a contract which expires in June 2021 meaning the Rossoneri are entering a precarious position with his deal inside the final 12 months.

According to SportMediaset on Wednesday (via MilanNews), Donnarumma wants to become the leader of Milan once Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaves.

There will be no talk of his renewal until 5 October, but the premise of the negotiations will start from Donnarumma’s will to remain at the club and to absolutely not leave on a free transfer under any circumstances.

The Italy international has already worn the captain’s armband five times in the absence of Alessio Romagnoli, but it will soon be time to resolve his future and settle some of the lingering doubts that exist due to the nature of the current contract situation.
