Mediaset: Ibrahimovic has a big say in who replaces Pioli – the man he wants

By Oliver Fisher -

There have been a lot of questions regarding what Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s actual role at AC Milan will be, and it is now known that he will have a big say in who the next head coach is.

SportMediaset report that Gerry Cardinale’s words last night to the Financial Times dispelled any doubts: Ibrahimovic is a sort of deputy of the RedBird owner himself, who will have a real say in Milan’s future.

It must be remembered that Zlatan was asked a few weeks ago about the future of head coach Stefano Pioli, to which he responded: “Pioli is our coach, we are happy with him.” It is a statement that seems to have an expiration date.

A change at the end of the season – barring sensational twists – seems obvious. This was confirmed by Cardinale too as he expressed displeasure at the league placement and the excessive injuries, a sign that Pioli and his staff are in the docks.

Ibrahimovic wants a big name to replace Pioli and the man he has chosen is Antonio Conte, who in turn wants to get back into coaching but with an ambitious project. Ibra’s will is clear, but naturally many pieces must be put in the right place.

It starts from the summer mercato, where Conte will ask for large investments, and it remains to be understood whether the American owners intend to satisfy them. At the moment the only certainty is that the Swede’s influence on the future Milan will be enormous.

  1. Conte is not really a coach suitable to RedBird’s project and it’s where the egos will clash.

Buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy summer🍿

  2. Conte doesn’t seem like the right fit for RedBird’s project and what they are trying to do. Also I’m afraid Conte would spell the end for Leao.

  3. If Conte arrives Milan will play 343 or 352 and Leao will either play as a winger or 2nd striker.

Theo will score more goals as he will have less defensive responsibilities. So the mercato will focus on a striker, RWB, DM and CB.

It can work out with Conte. If Milan sell Mike Maignan we will have an additional 80/90m extra funds plus 35m from the sale of CDK and Salaemakers to add to the transfer budget.

Therefore we will have more money available to get the type of players Conte wants. Maignan will leave because like Dollarumma, Milan will not give him the 8-9m salary he wants and rightfully so.

Bye bye Maignan. It was good while it lasted but this season he has been on a decline including all his injury problems.

    1. Pioli also tried the 3-5-2 for a while last season, and while we stopped giving up goals, we (Leao) also stopped scoring. Leao is on record as saying he does not like playing centrally. So it’s not going to work with him and Conte. As to 3-4-3 Conte only ever used that for a handful of games with Tottenham precisely because he couldn’t justify to the club having to sit one of the wingers. It didn’t work out for him. He plays 3-5-2, period. I’m against Conte. It will not turn out well for us.

  4. Again with this idiocy. Stop printing this same B.S. article put out by Conte’s people where they claim to know what Ibra wants. He has said no such thing. Is this what passes for journalism now? Please try and do better Oliver.

  5. I just want somebody who is going to win us trophies. Don’t care the name, somebody who will get us scudettos and challenge champions league. I’m tired of playing one game good, 5 games bad. Losing to teams like udinese, monza should not be happening.

Inter on paper don’t have a team superior to others, but when they step onto that field they’re fully focused on winning. They have a winning mentality whereas our team do not.

Look at de rossi has done to roma, he may not be permanent but he clearly showed that mourinho who is classified as a ‘world class’ coach is underperforming. It’s all about the right coach for the right group of players and that’s what we need.

  6. Conte’s PR people are working overtime to get him linked to Milan because none of the other overseas clubs want him anymore LOL LOL
