Mediaset: The card Milan will play in hope of winning Jonathan David race

Jonathan David is expected to be one of the big names when it comes to transfer stories in the coming months, and AC Milan have been linked with a move by another source.

According to SportMediaset, David will not renew his contract and will therefore leave Lille on a free transfer. Barcelona are seriously considering trying, several Premier League clubs have been following him for months, while Atletico Madrid are in the hunt too.

In Italy, however, there is a list of clubs: Cristiano Giuntoli would like him at Juventus, Inter have established contact with the Canadian’s entourage to understand the feasibility of the operation, and then Milan are also involved.

The Rossoneri have a ‘bad relationship’ with free transfers having both lost players to them and lost out on signings, but they can play the ‘Paulo Fonseca card’ in their favour. Under the Portuguese coach at Lille, the 24-year-old scored 52 goals in two seasons (2022-23 and 2023-24).

He did so in a 4-2-3-1 system, the formation that the former Roma coach is also using with Milan. Much will depend on the fate of Tammy Abraham, plus the request of David’s agents in terms of salary and commissions, given the principled stance of the management.

Given the strong competition, the David deal is expected to be anything but easy for Milan. Only a meticulous job by Fonseca could perhaps push the striker himself to reduce his financial demands (his own and those of his agents).

  1. The flop playing for 920k net has financial demands?

I hope barca gets him. I love seeing them sign flops for high salary. Tho doubt he’ll get a high salary anywhere. 3-4M net max imao. 3M is already tripling his salary and you just don’t do that

      1. I would..clubs don’t actually do that. I know people believe mid table epl clubs pay high salaries but they really don’t. I checked.
Highest they go is 5M net. Most have top salaries at 4M net. Those are in € ofc.
Spurs are the only mid table who pay over 6M and only to Son and werner.
Newcastle been throwing money around but their highest paid player is Bruno boi. 5.4M + 1.3M in bonuses. Tonali is on 4M + 1.2M.bonus

        1. I think one of the major reasons we recruit from France a lot is they have ridiculous low salaries.
If you exclude the p$$$$g players the highest paid player is Balogun with 5M net. Second is Golovin with 4M net. And they’re both monaco players. Monaco isn’t even in France, it’s a city state. With sus taxes.
Highest paid player that isn’t monaco or p$$$$g is rabiot. 3.5M net.

          1. The French Ligue 1 has always been inferior to the other Top 5 leagues in spending power. Now that Mbappe moved on, even that revenue will decrease.

        2. Not true, search Google for “Every Premier League Club’s Highest-Paid Player in 2024/2025” or a similar wording.
For Guimaraes some sites report a salary in the range of 7-8 mln.
In any case, Italian clubs will have strong competition for his signature.

          1. its very true.. i dont need to google sh*t, i checked all clubs.

I dont care what some sites report. his salary is £ 4,580,000 (Base) and £ 1,140,000 (Bonus) net. verified numbers

          2. You have verified nothing, unless you are talking about net salaries. In my comment about David I was talking about gross salary. In gross, several mid table EPL teams are beyond the 6 mln threshold. West Ham’s manager himself has said Paqueta’s salary is 7.8 mln pounds. Onana confirmed himself that his salary at AV is 7.2 mln. Eze’ salary is widely reported to be 6.2 mln euros at Crystal Palace-linked sites. Many such cases so on. The idea that mid table EPL teams can’t offer a 6+ mln salary is utter nonsense.

          3. I wrote net all along. are you an idi0t or what?

So i said David would be lucky if he gets a 3-4M€ net salary and you said it would be 6+M and you meant gross? what idi0t talks about gross numbers?

Yeah Paqueta gets 7.8M gross£. Thats 4.2M net£. The gross amount is jsut what he costs the club with taxes.. And yes Onana gets 4M net £. Eze gets 2.8 net £. 5.2 gross btw.

I mean you must be trolling via throwing gross numbers out.. You just must be. If you’re not, my ‘people are d*mb as rocks’ theory has another strong pro example. i’ll tell you the cons are scarce af

          4. I missed the “net” word in your first comment, my bad there, though your anger is totally unwarranted and shows who the real “idi0t” is.

  2. If Fonseca is still here next summer it’s a miracle. Or another idiocy. Anyway that news is ridiculous, Fonseca is a nobody and a loser and he benched David last year. Considering how poorly he handles relationships with his players, I really don’t think David is missing him.
