Mediaset: Milan in a hurry to close €30m deal with Chelsea before mid-September

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing negotiations with Chelsea for the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko and want to get the deal closed soon, a report claims.

It has been reported over the last couple of weeks that Milan are in advanced talks with Chelsea over the signing of the Frenchman, who is understood to be desperate to return after a successful loan spell at the club in 2018-19.

However, things went a bit cold on the Bakayoko front as the management prioritised deals for Sandro Tonali and Brahim Diaz from Brescia and Real Madrid respectively.

According to SportMediaset (via MilanNews), the negotiations with Chelsea for Bakayoko are continuing, but Milan is in a hurry to close.

This is because the Rossoneri want the 26-year-old to be available already for the match on 17 September against Shamrock Rovers, in the second round of Europa League qualification.

The formula of the deal already seems to be set: it will be a loan with option to buy set at around €30m.

  1. I don’t really get why Chelsea wouldn’t negotiate an obligation to buy when his contract will be nearly running down. If there is a 30 million optional buy out clause I seriously doubt Milan are ever going to pay that unless he performs unbelievably well! Surely an obligation to buy and a slightly reduced fee would be the best way to go. Seems like we let Pasalic leave too cheaply and we’re asking a fee that will never get paid for Bakayoko
