Mediaset: Milan to pass on permanent signing of €7m man – Elliott want a high-end winger

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will not use their option to buy Alexis Saelemaekers from Anderlecht in the upcoming transfer window, a report claims.

Saelemaekers was brought in from the Belgian side during the January transfer window to provide cover on the right with Suso having left for Sevilla, but has has made just three appearances for the Rossoneri so far.

According to SportMediaset (via MilanLive), the 20-year-old’s stay at San Siro will be a short one as the Rossoneri do not intend to use the option they have in the loan deal to sign him permanently.

There was an obligation to buy clause inserted but only the event of qualification in the Champions League, a scenario therefore already virtually impossible.

It would have cost Milan an extra €3.5m to sign the winger in addition to the same fee for the paid loan, but the decision has seemingly already been made. Now, the report concludes, Elliott Management Corporation will look for an alternative high-end winger to challenge Castillejo.
