Rafael Leao’s future at AC Milan is ‘under discussion’ as the latest discrepancies regarding team selection for Friday’s game against Juventus have emerged.
Last summer, the Rossoneri signed Rafael Leao from Lille for a fee of widely reported to be €28m, however the Portuguese striker has struggled to break through, spending a lot of time on the bench in his first season.
He has made 22 appearances for Milan thus far, but only ten of them from start, bagging two goals and two assists in the process.
Milan travel to Turin on Friday to face Juventus in the return leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final in need of an away goal and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic suspended, so naturally many assumed Stefano Pioli would turn to Leao, his only other recognised striker.
However, SportMediaset (via MilanNews) are reporting that Pioli will use a Christmas tree formation (4-3-2-1) with Ante Rebic leading the line supported by Hakan Calhanoglu and Lucas Paquetà.
That means Leao will remain on the bench as he has not convinced the Milan boss, and now his future in the Rossoneri is also ‘under discussion’, as per the TV station.
