Mediaset: Torino star targeted as Milan might go from seven midfielders to four

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could find themselves with two less midfielders heading into the January transfer window and thus might intervene to bring in a reinforcement, a report claims.

Of the seven midfielders he currently has in his squad, Stefano Pioli could soon find himself with Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders and Yacine Adli.

As SportMediaset reports (via PianetaMilan), the reason for that is that Tommaso Pobega will be out for months after his injury against Monza, Rade Krunic seems to be heading for Fenerbahce and Ismael Bennacer is expected to join Algeria for the Africa Cup of Nations.

That is why Geoffrey Moncada and co. might have to dip into the transfer market, and the name at the top of the list is Assan Ouedraogo of Schalke 04, but he seems to be more of a target for next sumer.

With the possible emergency, Milan could focus on Samuele Ricci of Torino in the January transfer window. The midfielder has not yet renewed his contract with the Granata which expires in 2026. The operation would be complicated, but a sacrifice could be made.

  1. I have been wanting us to sign Riccci since his early Empoli days and was extremely irritated to see him join Torino on a cheap loan with a cheap option to buy when we should have steppped in and got him. Unfortunately knowing Cairo isn’t easy to deal with I wouldn’t be too surprised if he now demand 35-40 mil for him so I have quite a difficult time seeing us getting him at a reasonable price.

      1. Yeah i agree and Sassuolo also seems to have a fondness dealing with Juventus, at least that can probably not be said about Torino 😀 I wouldn’t even be surprised if cairo ends up demanding more than the numbers I first mentioned.

    1. I would say 30M should be the right amount to sign him. That would be his worth. I am still gutted we didn’t sign Hjulmand last season, Lecce are easier to deal with than Schalke or Torino.

      1. I’m not so sure to be honest but who knows and only time will show whats up and down. If you are referring to Schalkes 04 Ouedraogo then he has a buyout clause set at 11 or 12 mil so that could easily prove to be an absolute steal.

        1. Yeah, he might be the next big German midfielder after wirtz and musiala. I hope the management don’t screw this up, but with his signing it would probably be an exit to our primavera midfielders like Zeroli or Eletu.

    1. I’ll believe it when I see it but I seriously doubt that Ricci will be available at the amount you are suggesting but if it really were so I would say get the deal done.

        1. But Torino generally doesn’t sell their key players at spot prices so I will be surprised if he is available at 20-30 mil, add to that he is Italian and is one of their most important players. Sorry but I just doesn’t see it happen but it would nevertheless be a great addition to the squad so would be glad to be proven wrong but we will see.

  2. I’ve been a fan of his since his Empoli days and would be a dream signing but not realistic imo.

Right now I wouldn’t be surprised if Krunic was offered a bumper deal and extend.

  3. Even though Ambrat has looked like absolute garbage at Man U I think taking over his loan/option would be prudent. If his form doesn’t improve Bennacer will be available after January and he’s gone in the summer. Seems like a decent deal on paper at least.

    1. I would also gladly take Amrabat to Milano but I assume Morocco will be playing AFCON from January so it might be difficult to strike a deal and he wouldn’t be available at the earliest from either late January to February 11th in case they reach the final and then add a few days to a week on top of that. In worst case scenario he would only be with us for roughly 3.5 months.

    2. Particularly since it’s an option, as we’d be able to “trial” him and if it doesn’t work the loan ends and he’s gone, and if he returns to his old self in the familiar confines of Serie A we get a good deal. AFCON is the biggest risk with Amrabat.

  4. Cannot see Torino selling him in January for less than the King’s ransom.

Perhaps we can do a deal involving Pobega in summer if it is management as much as Juric that liked him (as Juric has probably run his race at Toro).

I assume Pobega can’t be a factor for a winter transfer given his injury issues.

  5. Would be a welcome addition – especially as he’s Italian but that’s the thing. He’s Italian. Milan will not spend a dime on Italians. That’s it. No need to waste time dreaming of transfers such as this.
