Mediaset: When Boban’s Milan exit will be official – Maldini departure also ‘highly probable’

By Oliver Fisher -

Zvonimir Boban will leave AC Milan and is likely to do so after the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Juventus, it is claimed.

CEO Ivan Gazidis and Elliott Management property were not at all happy with his decision to do an unauthorised interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport during which he criticised Gazidis for going behind the backs of he and Maldini in approaching Ralf Rangnick.

As reported by SportMediaset (via MilanLive), the parties’ lawyers are working to establish the methods and timing of Boban’s exit. The farewell will be made official only after Wednesday’s match against Juventus and not before.

There may be an agreement for mutual termination of the contract or there could even be grounds for dismissal. As CEO, Gazidis has the power to fire the Croatian and given the irreparable breach between the parties it cannot be ruled out that he is sacked.

As for Maldini, relations with Elliott and Gazidis are not idyllic since his choice of Marco Giampaolo (later sacked) as coach, therefore a separation is highly probable. He could immediately resign too, or assess the situation at the end of the season.
