Messias discusses ‘wonderful’ UCL experience and adds: “Injuries slowed me down”

Junior Messias has been a key player for AC Milan in the last few weeks, scoring important goals against Atletico Madrid and Genoa. His adventure got off to a tough start but now he’s ready to contribute to the team’s success.

As said, the Brazilian winger got the goal against Atletico Madrid which, in the end, didn’t mean much as the Rossoneri failed to beat Liverpool. He has already shown what he’s capable of, though, and that is indeed positive.

On Saturday evening, Milan will take on Udinese in the league and they will be looking to bounce back with a win. Interviewed by MilanTV (via the official channel), Messias spoke about the Liverpool game and the upcoming task.

On Liverpool…

“We knew it was a tough game, it wouldn’t have been easy to beat Liverpool. However, we really wanted to win and gave our all. Unfortunately, it didn’t go well but we have to look ahead and continue to play the way we’re playing.”

On the Champions League…

“We are a strong side, we can think big. Playing in the Champions League has been a wonderful experience. I played two games against two top sides, two sides that have come a long way in the Champions League. I’ll remember this forever.”

On his injuries…

“I wasn’t expecting the injuries, I was a little behind in preparation when I got here and the injuries slowed me down even more. But the staff has always treated me very well and made me feel home.

On Udinese…

“A tough game awaits us, but they all are. The teams that face us always try to play the game of their lives. We need to play like we know how to,” he concluded.

Finishing last in the Champions League group, of course, doesn’t look too good but at least Milan will be able to focus solely on Serie A from here on.
