MF: Webuild interested in new San Siro project as general director joins Milan board

By Oliver Fisher -

The Webuild group have expressed an interest in the construction of the new stadium that AC Milan and Inter want to build, a report claims.

According to what is being reported by Milano-Finanza (via MilanLive), Webuild (formerly Salini Impregilo) are the latest construction firm to show an interest in being part of the new stadium project and the complex that will surround it.

In their history, the firm have done work on eight stadiums including the current Stadio San Siro and the Olimpico in Rome. Interestingly, Massimo Ferrari is general manager of Webuild and he joined the Rossoneri Board of Directors on Wednesday.

Another construction company in Generali seem to now be out of the running while Coima are waiting for news. The investment of Milan and Inter is worth over €1billion and there is also the possibility of future earnings for any company that gets themselves involved, meaning more firms are expected to come forward.

The clubs will have to evaluate the various options well and choose a winning design between Manica and Populous, but of course first of all a total approval from the City Council is needed first.
