GdS: Maignan forging his own legacy with performance vs. Inter the latest indication

By Oliver Fisher -

Mike Maignan produced an amazing display during the derby win against Inter last night, providing a reminder that he is forging his own legacy at Milan.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) focuses on the exploits of the French goalkeeper with a section titled as follows: ‘Maignan is the goalkeeper of Milan, not the substitute for Gigio Donnarumma’. The paper are full words of praise for the former Lille goalkeeper, who was a great protagonist in yesterday’s derby alongside his compatriot Olivier Giroud.

There was little skepticism about him when he arrived given what he achieved in the last Ligue 1 season, but Maignan has immediately produced on special evenings and has convinced the fans that they may have even upgraded in the goalkeeping position.

He came as a champion of France and showed he didn’t feel any pressure on his shoulders, with the derby against Inter another huge indication that Milan are set for a long time.
