Report: Milan have around €10m left to spend this summer after Thiaw deal

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have got around €10 million left in the transfer budget to spend this summer with a midfielder the main target, a report claims.

As has been reported by Pianeta Milan today, the Rossoneri have had to be careful with their finances this summer given the takeover by RedBird Capital Group and the uncertainties that can bring.

In addition to the €36 million that Milan spent on Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge, technical director Paolo Maldini and sporting director Frederic Massara have taken €7.2 million from the clubs coffers to make Alessandro Florenzi and Junior Messias’ loans permanent.

That leaves €10 million to sign a defender and a midfielder but Malick Thiaw will cost €5-6 million from Schalke, leaving the rest for a midfielder.

The situation was then changed by West Ham United signing Lucas Paqueta. Milan get 15% of €40 million of that deal, so an extra €6 million has appeared. That means that there is around €10 million available to get a new midfielder.

  1. Seeing as the Paqueta deal has 20m structured in bonuses then this story has as much truth and research in it as a Donald Trump Tweet.

    1. I previously read that the 40m is the fixed part (not including the large bonus) but the 15% clause is just on the profit.

  2. Lovro Majer (24 yo), the new Modric from Rennes. Valued at 20 millions if you need a playmaker.

Or Lecce captain Morten Hjulmandb(22 yo) if you need a strong defensive midfielder valued at least than 7 millions.
