GdS: Milan offered €25m plus pick of two wingers in summer Zaniolo bid

By Lorenzo Raffaini -

AC Milan are trying to sign Nicolo Zaniolo before the transfer window closes but their interest in the Roma forward is anything but new, a report has revealed.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan are in fact re-igniting their interest in Zaniolo and are very keen on landing the winger, who has amassed 28 goals so far for Roma in Serie A.

They also give some background on what happened last summer, stating that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara tried for Zaniolo before turning to Charles De Ketelaere, offering €25m in cash plus either Alexis Saelemakers or Ante Rebic as part of the deal.

The right wing role an area that management are keen to bolster and it is no surprise links are being brought to attention again. It must be mentioned that the player is particularly injury prone for a 23-year old, having suffered two ACL injuries. However, if he can keep fit, he is surely an upgrade in terms of directness and ability to beat a man.

  1. Gone are the days when don silvio will hand out a blank cheque and galliani will bring a world class player. How milan has fallen.

      1. Should we also blame him for 5 CL, 8 Seria and all the rest of 29 trophies? Or this is “something else”? You are pathetic, you know that right?

        1. Totally agree, Berlusconi should be applauded and thanked for what he did to the club. He exceeded expectations for many years, but how is he as an individual expected to compete against US VC money, the riches of the Premier League and nation states from the Middle East buying clubs?

        2. Mr Bunga Bunga would not have won any trophies in this new world of FFP. Let’s not pretend everything he did was on the up and up. Besides the Milan of 20 years ago is not our concern, but the Milan of the next 20 years.

          1. “Mr Bunga Bunga would not have won any trophies in this new world of FFP. ”

Well… PSG & ManCity have won something. Their actions aren’t that much different from Berlusconi’s.

  2. He certainly wasnt perfect but i think he still remains the most successful club owner ever. He might not win in the FFP era, but dont forget that in those days everybody was in the same boat and he still won. As a fan, the history of our club should be a concern, or at the very least should be understood. ‘Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’ – writer and philosopher George Santayana

  3. Let’s not forget that Berlusconi’s interest in the transfer market and writing big cheques was coincidentally tied to his political ambitions. The man was a legend in many ways, especially in the late 80s and early 90s, but he couldn’t compete in todays game.

The problem as I see it is that American ownership models do not compliment the expectations of football fans.

I wouldn’t say Silvio mismanaged, he had his time, he was the big fish but then bigger fish like Abramovic arrived, now we are on to state ownership…and of course Madrid who just seem to write their own accounts

  4. Berlusconi is the third most important person in our history after paolo maldini and franco baresi if you disrespect him you are not real milan fan ,
those paid american d riders are jokes
