From Spain: Milan poised to beat Atletico Madrid to Uruguayan striker in €5m Adli-type deal

AC Milan are leading the race to sign Agustin Alvarez and could complete a Yacine Adli type of operation, according to a report from Spain.

The latest from TDFichajes claims that Atlético Madrid are behind in the battle to sign Agustín Álvarez because the Uruguayan striker is heading towards joining Milan. The agent of the Peñarol striker has recently met with Fiorentina and Inter, although it seems that the club most interested in signing him are Milan.

Given that Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud have a combined age of 75 and Pietro Pellegri is only on loan (and continues to battle injuries), the management want a young striker to come in and freshen up the department.

Although the idea of the 21-year-old’s entourage is to close his transfer in January, Milan are hoping to tie up a deal for Alvarez and leave him on loan at least until the summer with the Montevideo side, with the operation worth around €5m for a player who has 18 goals and 4 assists in 24 games played across the Copa Sudamericana and Clausura 2021.
