Milan 9-0 Rhodense: Ibrahimovic crucial in behind-closed-doors friendly win

By Oliver Fisher -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his return to action in an AC Milan shirt as he started in AC Milan’s 9-0 friendly win over Rhodense.

The Rossoneri started with what was a very strong XI, as Gianluigi Donnarumma was protected by a back four of Davide Calabria, Mateo Musacchio, Alessio Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez.

Lucas Paqueta, Ismael Bennacer and Giacomo Bonaventura were in the midfield while Ibrahimovic was flanked by Hakan Calhanoglu to the left and Suso to the right.

Calabria got the first two goals of the game, the second a strike from distance, before he set up his new Swedish team-mate for a tap-in to make it 3-0 early on.

Ibra then recorded an assist as Calhanoglu made it four, before Paqueta added a fifth before half time.

Stefano Pioli changed all 11 players at half-time, with defender Mattia Caldara entering the fold having not played a competitive game since April.

Pepe Reina was in goal while Andrea Conti and Primavera star Riccardo Oddi were the full-backs, with Matteo Gabbia partnering Caldara.

Franck Kessie, Brescianini and Daniel Maldini were the midfield trio while Rafael Leao and Samu Castillejo flanked Krzysztof Piatek.

All of the front three each scored a goal, with Piatek netting a brace and Leao providing the assist for Castillejo as the score finished 9-0 in a useful runout for the Rossoneri.
