The AC Milan management are working on improving the squad and they have taken steps towards signing Samuele Ricci from Torino, a report claims.

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan have made ‘significant steps forward’ in their attempts to sign Ricci in view of next season. The idea of a January deal seems remote, but the management want to beat the competition and get things agreed before the summer.

The Granata midfielder is the first designated reinforcement ahead of 2025-26 and discussions with the player have already begun in order to find an agreement on the personal terms of the contract he would sign.

Geoffrey Moncada in particular has been monitoring him for some time, with the performances and exponential growth of the 23-year-old convincing him to try. Ricci recently renewed until 2028 but with a ‘Bremer-style’ clause, a sort of gentlemen’s agreement allowing him to leave for €25-30m.

It comes after Matteo Moretto of Relevo reported yesterday that Milan have taken positive steps towards potentially signing the former Empoli man. Laying the groundwork ahead of time could be crucial, given the competition from Italy and abroad.

Ricci can play either as a box-to-box midfielder or as a deep-lying playmaker, making him verstile. He has made 21 appearances for Torino this season, with one goal and one assist to his name.

  1. CM/CDM: Reijnders, Fofana, Ricci, Bennacer, Musah
    LM: Leao (Pulisic, Reijnders)
    RM: Pulisic, Chukwueze (Musah)

Zeroli, Chaka Traore, Liberalli for depth

    Looks like a solid line…

Strikers will be the bigger focus in the summer, I guess…
Morata, Camarda (Leao) will be our option past this season.

1-2 quality strikers will be a must. If we manage to get J.David it would be easier to then pay proper fee for a top scorer.

        1. Zeroli is 20 years old and is nothing special.
As short Milan has been in the midfield this season, injuries, Zeroli still gets no minutes.
If Milan signs Ricci he would get even less minutes then he gets now.
Camarda and Liberali are the only Primavera players Milan should hold on, everyone else can be used as a counterpart in a transfer.

      1. Zeroli is a great assest we must not lose, we can’t afford to make another mistake over our youth players like Zirkeze that went to German league, And others that exploded somewhere else.

        1. “we can’t afford to make another mistake over our youth players like Zirkeze that went to German league,”

Zirkzee, our youth player? Since when?
People that has never seen Zeroli play hype him up just because they have read or heard his name.

    1. Probably the squad will be different. In case of not reaching UCL next year some sales are possible. In case of reaching ucl, new arrivals are most likely, with sale of players with bad impact.

    2. I would add Saelemaekers potentially returning as backup/depth LW/RW. He seems exactly like the type of player Conceicao would be into.

      1. true, forgot about Alexis. but let’s also see how this season goes Traore/Liberalli can still develop under him.

Liberalli is Pulisic-esque winger while Traore is more direct replacement to Leao. Both are interesting options that I hope will become 1st team players soon.

If we also get Rashford with adequate buy-option that left side would be even more dangerous. But his salary and his price-range as well as his general attitude are all red flags and none of them are easy to fix.

If he can get his 2-3 yo form back like Pulisic did ->
Theo-Leao-Rashford flank with the backing of Reijnders from the center… That would be super deadly

        1. I’m not convinced by Traore. He’s been around for a while now and is still kicking around Futuro without receiving a call up to the first time despite all of the injuries to our wingers, and hasn’t broken out when he was on loan at smaller clubs. He might be more useful as a makeweight for another transfer, such as Ricci.

  2. I’m not sure Ricci is going to be possible. Reports are saying that Cairo is now valuing him at 40M. I could see a deal getting done at 30M, which is already a stretch for this ownership, but not at 40M, unless some serious young talent is included in the exchange.
