AC Milan have moved forward in their pursuit of Samuele Ricci in view of the summer transfer window, according to one journalist.
Milan have been heavily linked with a move for Ricci in recent weeks but their interest stretches back to when he was at Empoli. Now he is one of the best in his position in the league, and an Italy international, things seem to have intensified.
According to the latest from Matteo Moretto of Relevo, there have been ‘recent steps forward’ in the operation that would see Ricci join Milan. He is the ‘number one target’ for the ‘midfield of the future’ in the eyes of the directors.
He confirms that the management are trying to get a deal agreed ‘in view of next season’ and therefore it would not be a January signing. Moreover, the discussions between the entourage of the Torino star and the Rossoneri club ‘have advanced’.
Ricci did recently sign a contract extension with Torino which pushes the deadline of his deal back from 2026 to 2028. However, sources like Calciomercato.com have suggested that this is just for leverage, and that there is a gentleman’s agreement for him to depart if the right bid does come on.
if the “right bid” is made. It depends on what Cairo means with “right bid”. haha
if we’re gonna invest in the summer we may as well early to bolster the squad to make a ucl push.
Yes, because Torino will just give him to us in January because that’s went we want him. 🙄
Frendrup it is then… or Atalanta will take another Serie A gem for pennies while we go for Emerson Royals and RLCs of EPL… the Danish is a perfect option for Sergio
RB is the real problem for me (no good Italian RBs we can sign and our current duo is shockingly horrendous to be starters)… hence for wingers, we are forced to go for an Italian, or somehow get rid of Emerson Royal, and keep Calabria as sub…
Frendrup, Gnoto/Chiesa, Vanderson
People are so focused on Royal. Yes, he’s not the next Cafu, but we have the fifth best defense in the league at the moment. Look at the table. Scoring is the actual immediate problem, IMHO. If it were up to me, and Milan was able to make one January signing, it would be a striker, even if on loan for 6 months (and send Tammy back to Roma). We can then address RB, DM and long term striker in the summer, and in terms of DM, it seems that’s exactly what’s happening per this article.
Royal’s main problem is that he is useless past our half-line… him losing ball is what makes the right side so problematic…
we need someone who can bring the ball up and not lose instantly. He will have his moments, but he shouldn’t be a starter. That’s why I like Vanderson, he can both attack and defend…
In those few Milan games I have watched (vs Inter, Liverpool, RM, parts of Leverkusen, Juve in the Super Cup, parts of Udinese), Emerson was not as bad as people on this site claim. He is far from great, but Theo is not anything better this season, and Calabria has been in decline for 1 or 2 years. Last season Tomori and Thiaw made error after error, but they were not scapegoated like Emerson. He is who he is. Maybe Jimenez gets his starting spot eventually, but in any case, Emerson is not anything worse than many other Milan players. No way are Tomori or Pavlovic with their low football IQ and simple errors better than him.
They are better. Emerson is a pure rotten piece of ****.
Think of the worst player you ever saw. Then name him Emerson royal.
Funny thing about it. Theo and calabria were good so they can have a decline. Royal was never good.
The problem with Emerson Royal is that we didn’t have to buy him. There was nothing he did at Tottenham that makes one says “this one is going to fix some of our problems”. Bro’s last goal was in august 2023 and last assist was before Messi won the WC. Almost everyone knew he was bad and so far he did prove his critics right.
The reason he isn’t our worst player this season is Theo and RLC drop in form, but if we compare him to the 2023/24 roster, he is by far worse.
The man costed us 15M€ and earns 4,6M€ per year gross, so I think with these we have the right to expect better.
Also I don’t know what you saw in those games: Liverpool beaten us from pillar to post and no way he was good, vs Inter he made a mistake in the first half but improved in the second half, vs Leverkusen Boniface had a field day with him, vs Madrid he was good (except for the penalty) but had Musah covering up for him defensively, he was ok defensively vs a juve who has been a bit average offensively and Udinese is a sitting duck.
@flyingturtle did you see Digao play, Kaka’s brother? Easily the worst Milan player ever.
There have been a lot shît players..cerci is among the top of me list. Urgh..cerci.
I don’t think 5th best defence in the league is the flex you think it is.
Also in combination with our offense….8th best…doesn’t sound very good.
I prefer morten frendrup
