GdS: Milan and Al-Hilal have no agreement over Theo Hernandez fee – where things stand

Theo Hernandez’s move to Al-Hilal is expected to be made official soon, after the Saudi side were knocked out of the Club World Cup.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the time is now: Al-Hilal and Milan have agreed to meet at the end of the Club World Cup to close the deal for Theo. Or rather, at the time of Al-Hilal’s elimination from the tournament, which came over the weekend.

The Saudi club preferred to postpone in order to close the season with the current squad, avoiding internal transfer problems. However, Simone Inzaghi’s team lost against Fluminense on Friday night and is expected back at the negotiating table shortly.

Theo to Al-Hilal: Where things stand

Al-Hilal decided to sign Theo Hernandez just after Inzaghi was chosen. He was a specific request from the new coach. Theo initially said no, then he saw the Milan-Atletico Madrid negotiations fall through and opened up to Saudi Arabia.

Al-Hilal offered him a contract worth €20m net per season and if it closes – because it is very likely that it will – they will pay him that amount. An agreement between the clubs remains to be found, despite the reports to the contract.

Milan would like €25m as a guaranteed amount, without the variable of bonuses, while the current offer is €20m plus €5m in add-ons. It is always better to be cautious but of course, the gap is minimal.

The Rossoneri are waiting for the final offer and, in the meantime, has granted Theo a few more days of vacation. He will not be at the gathering on Monday, the same fate as Bennacer, Adli and Vasquez. Players leaving, waiting to find a team for next season.

    1. Another way to look at it would be:

If he were a free agent and wanted 25M for one season, would we pay it?

      That’s the reality.

Personally, I wish Tare could work some magic, Theo would put holdups behind him and we agree a contract extension, perhaps with a low release clause of something like 10-15M, but it seems to be too far gone to be saveable sadly.

  1. We should play him in pre season honestly see how he goes and if does well I honestly think we should keep him contract extend for 1-2 years more and also a €50 million release clause because as we know one good season from Theo his value sky rockets.

I don’t know about a replacement because maxim de cypher has gone to Brighton so not too many good left backs to choose from

    1. Lol. Everyone just assuming he would sign a contract extension. For how much? People still think he should get 8m per year? Why aren’t major European clubs lining up to sign this “world class” player with a year left on contract???

  2. If Theo was an Atalanta player with the same circumstances. He would be sold for no less than 60 million even with an expiring contract.
I’d rather keep him, and win seria A and hope for renewal

    1. win seria A,what you smoke? we are small club and never will be great again if not those Americans sell us to Arabs. Napoli,Inter,Juve,Roma is unteachable for us,we can play with Atalanta,Fiorentina,Lazio and that is,so no Champions league at all with this managment and those players at club now.

      1. Very funny dude. War already raging in arab and you still hoping some arab kingdom splashed 2 billion euro to buy ACM ? Berlusconi, abramovich, boehly are they arab ? It is not all american are bad owner, ACM just unlucky get wrong american owner with elliot & RB .

  3. Theo is world class if the team around him has a good defensive structure.
In Allegri’s team I think he will flourish like the old Theo where the midfield will protect the team defensively.

He is now coming from rest after vacation.
    Extend his contract.
It’s too much money to find someone reliable enough.

  4. It’s funny how people fail to remember the amount of points Theo directly caused us last season,

And the amounts of points his attitude caused the team

  5. How about 20 million? Wasn’t it before the Club World Cup that Al Hilal offered 35 million, and Theo refused? Who lies to us this well hahahahaha

  6. balanced:
    Jorrel Hato
    Nathaniel Brown
    Esputian*

    defensive:
    Andrew Robinson
    Ferlan Mendy*
    Mykolenko*

    attacking:
    Nuno Tavares
    Miguel Gutierrez*

  7. everyone on the list would be under-25M except:

Esputian (closer to 30M), Hato (30-40M) and Tavares (30-40M)

  8. Inter’s mouthpiece taking pot shots at Milan.
    Typical.
Romano just Here We Go’d already. We’re getting 25M for a player who leaves for free in 6 months time.
    Great business.
