FootMercato: Milan alerted as Roma midfielder feels alienated under Mourinho

By Oliver Fisher -

Jordan Veretout’s future at Roma is uncertain as the player no longer feels as useful to their project, and AC Milan have been credited with interest.

After two promising seasons at Fiorentina, Veretout joined Roma in the summer of 2019 on an initial loan and in his second season in the Italian capital he had the most successful season of his career with 10 goals and 2 assists in 29 Serie A matches under Paulo Fonseca.

However, Footmercato report that he has not really found a concrete role in José Mourinho’s tactical ideas and he has been moved deeper to try and find a fit, which does not suit him. It is a difficult situation for the player, as a source from the club told them, even though he is happy in Rome.

Veretout feels that his qualities are no longer compatible with Mourinho’s style so he could leave in the summer even though he is under contract until June 2024. Inter, Milan and Marseille were interested last summer and the Rossoneri have been credited with interest recently.
