AC Milan have already decided the fate of Theo Hernandez with his contract having less than 18 months left to run, a report claims.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport speaks quite strongly of Theo’s latest ‘insult’ to Milan in what has been a negative season. He reported for international duty with France despite asking to come off at half-time against Como due to a calf problem.
According to the paper, his future ‘has already been decided’ and his contract, which expires in the summer of 2026, will not be renewed. Offers are expected at the end of the season and if they don’t arrive, the possibility remains that he could department in a free transfer.
Milan will sign a new starting left-back to replace him, even if Alex Jimenez could get more of a chance in the coming games given the need for determined and hungry players. However, the ‘rift with the club’ is there between Theo and Milan.
The management – while waiting for the arrival of a new sporting director – have chosen ‘not to offer him a rich renewal’. To extend the agreement, the former Real Madrid man is asking for a salary increase that the club have no intention of agreeing to.

Leaveee but sell.
I doubt that even Theo believes that his performances have warranted a renewal and a raise…
True professionals and grown men like Gigio, Hakan, Kessie, Romagnoli, Bonaventura, etc also had a “rift” with the club regarding their contracts, but all of them played their butts off until the last seconds of their last game in Milan jersey.
Meanwhile, Theo, quits on his club, fans, teammates, coaches, with 2 years left on his contract while being top 3 highest paid player on the team.
Maybe he needs a better mentor in his life.
It all depends on the new sporting director. And now with Milan losing over 100M in CL money. He’ll stay. You can make a decision emotionally but Americans decide by finances in the end. He will play at Milan next season and there 99% won’t be a new starting left back because that would be 30M. In a season where they dropped out of CL. Not happening.
And then in December he will renew or Milan will let him go for free, I know which one will happen. I’d bet on him staying at Milan until the end of his career.
Does “he could department in a free transfer” mean “he could depart in a free transfer?” 🙂 If not, somebody translate for me.
Please leave but sell. 10m would still be better than 0 next summer. Please Theo please leave.
Bad business. We’ll lose him for free if not renewed. You can raise his salary to 7M€ if that means we are able to sell him at 50M€+. Otherwise what, we save on salary but lose on potential sale revenue?
Renewing him at 6 million a year and selling him for 40-50
if waay better then losing him for free next summer.
Worst case he gets back to his usual self under a new coach and we have a world class LB again.
I have the weird feeling his performances will start improving from now as he realises management no longer willing to kiss his ass so to speak
Milan do terrible business. These days footballers must be contracted with an automatic option to add 1 more year to prevent going on free situations.
