CorSera: Milan angry after Siebert’s blunder but their fate is still in their hands

By Oliver Fisher -

After last year’s incidents in the Atletico Madrid and Porto games, AC Milan once again fell victim to poor refereeing in the Champions League.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) this morning recalls how in minute 17 of Milan-Chelsea last night at San Siro Mount entered the area, Tomori restrains him slightly with a hand on his shoulder, but the English midfielder remained stood up and also managed to shoot, with Tatarusanu saving.

Then came the whistle of the German referee Siebert who punished the Rossoneri defender with a penalty and a red card. From that moment on, the Diavolo were outnumbered and after another bright start they could do little against a top team like Chelsea.

It is true that Tomori used his hands to try put Mount off at one point, but the touch is light and the referee’s decision was far too severe. Going a goal down straight after and then missing an equaliser through Giroud before Aubameyang doubled the lead was enough to kill the game.

As mentioned, Pioli’s side began the game with great determination and with the desire to get revenge against the Blues, but in the Champions League these decisions influence the outcome of games.

The draw between Dinamo Zagreb and Salzburg is a good result because qualification is all still in the hands of Milan who would go through with two victories in the last two matches against the Croatian and Austrian champions.

  1. Pioli and Krunic

I just hope the useless UEFA will at least extend the injustice to favour AC Milan over Salzburg and Zagreb, or have we fallen below their levels too?
At least 4 red cards each against both teams should suffice.
