Official: AC Milan announce mutual termination of Divock Origi’s contract

Today, AC Milan have announced that Divock Origi has left the club nearly 1,000 days after his last appearance for the Rossoneri.

A lot has been said about Origi in recent years, especially regarding his position within the club. In fact, for the past year (or more), the focus has been on when he would leave and not what he could do for Milan.

It was said last season that he was in Rome, whilst still earning his salary from the Rossoneri. However, he was given a chance to reintegrate with the Futuro team, but after failing to impress, he returned to his position of exile.

Origi officially leaves Milan

This morning, it was suggested that the club were on the verge of terminating his contract. Now, this has been confirmed by the club themselves on their official website. The statement reads as follows, certainly not a very personable one, but that relationship was never really formed.

“AC Milan announces that they have consensually terminated the contract with striker Divock Origi.

“The Club wishes the footballer the best for the future.”

In terms of what Origi ended up costing the club, they paid him €5.24m gross (€4m net) per year during his tenure. Assuming that he has agreed to terminate his deal without severance pay, and adding the fact that Nottingham paid his salary for one season, he cost a total of €13.1m gross.

To that, we must also add the €660k that Milan paid in agent commission when they signed the striker in the summer of 2022. With just two goals and one assist, it’s clear that it was a terrible deal for the Rossoneri.

  1. Noooo, sucb a shame. We never gave him a chance and undeservable treated him like Theo (and tonali) (and kjaer) and piatek, and oliviera

  2. I said it. Because even me that is not a coach cannot buy origi. Just watch his games in Liverpool and you will see that he has nothing to offer and I was surprised when somebody that call himself a coach go for him. Just tell me one thing he do in Liverpool that make them go for him. Completely nothing
