CM: Arsenal plan to raise funds with sale of trio and beat Milan to €35m midfielder

By Oliver Fisher -

Arsenal have a plan to raise funds and beat AC Milan to the signing of Renato Sanches, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com reported this morning that Milan have tried to sign Renato Sanches twice in the past but didn’t get a deal over the line, but this time things could be different. Directors Maldini and Massara have had more than one chat with his agent Jorge Mendes and there is very much a mutual appreciation between Milan and Sanches.

The Portuguese international has been told by his entourage that there have been recent talks with Milan and the Rossoneri are evaluating how they can use their excellent relations existing with Lille as leverage in the deal, with €35m the asking price.

According to the latest from the same source, Arsenal are seeking funds to bring Renato Sanches in during the January window and beat competition from the Diavolo. Edu’s plan is to sell strikers Alexandre Lacazatte and Eddie Nketiah – whose contracts expire next summer – plus goalkeeper Leno to get a total of €55m.

With such an amount they could place a concrete offer for the 24-year-old Sanches in the next window and it would be difficult for Lille to say no.
