Milan-linked Asensio: “We’re talking to Madrid, still have a year left on my contract”

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan-linked midfielder Marco Asensio has suggested that he is happy to stay at Real Madrid for the final year of his contract rather than move this summer.

The Spaniard was interviewed by Spanish newspaper AS (via Milan News) about his future as he is being heavily linked with a move away from Carlo Ancelotti’s team. Milan are one of the clubs linked, as are Manchester United and many others.

The Champions League winner was quick to point out that he is in talks with Real Madrid and he does still have a year left to play on his contract.

“We are talking with Real about the possibility of leaving or not, but I still have a year left on my contract.”

He did admit that it is no normal summer though because he does have a big decision to make that could affect his career for a very long time.

“It’s an important moment for me, I don’t deny it. I feel more mature and not only from a footballing point of view.

“It’s an important moment for me in which I have to decide many things. And also those around me tell me that they have to continue to grow and move forward.

“I want to do things in football and they help me to achieve what I aspire to. They support me in what I do.”

Milan are keen on signing another right-sided attacker and Asensio is a very real possibility. He scored 10 times in La Liga this season despite not being a regular starter.

  1. He likes it there at Madrid; but if they’re talking to him maybe it’s because they need to raise some funds and they want to sell him… if they do manage to convince him, then we could be willing buyers. He is the type of player we need at RW.
