CM: Milan and Atletico Madrid to battle again as both clubs target Benfica striker

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Atletico Madrid battled on the pitch in the Champions League last night and they could be set to fight over the same transfer target too.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, Atletico have set their sights on Benfica striker Darwin Nunez who is also wanted by Milan. Both clubs are on the lookout for the centre-forward of the future given that Luis Suarez is getting towards the end of his career as are Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud for the Rossoneri.

The Benfica striker is the first choice for Rojiblancos head coach Diego Simeone and the agent of the former Almeria star is in Spain to speak with the LaLiga champions directly, as they are looking to make an attempt in January.

Nunez, 22, has 5 goals in 9 league games for the Lisbon-based club so far this season as well as 3 in 5 Champions League appearances including a brace against Barcelona.
