GdS: Milan await news on Tonali’s injury – the possible recovery time and Pioli’s plan

By Oliver Fisher -

The friendly on Saturday against Vicenza showed that AC Milan are ready to take on the new season as they won 6-1, but there is a bit of worry surrounding Sandro Tonali.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), Tonali suffered an injury to the flexor and he will undergo some tests today to understand the extent of the issue and above all the recovery time. If it were a simple over-stretching the recovery would take a few days, while a strain or even a partial tear would be more serious.

Even if the outcome were to be the most serious, Tonali will be available for the derby against Inter scheduled for 3 September, but Stefano Pioli still hopes to have him available on Saturday against Udinese even though there is a small chance of that.

Pioli already knows the man that he will use in Tonali’s place presuming he is not there against Udinese, as he will once again turn to his wild card Rade Krunic who took over the former Brescia man in the win against Vicenza.

The other solution is Tommaso Pobega, who returned to the field yesterday in the friendly against Pergolettese at Milanello where he also scored a goal, but Tiemoue Bakayoko is firmly bottom of the list and the injury scare might just accelerate the pursuit of a new signing.
