GdS: Strength becomes a weakness as Milan’s away form drastically worsens

By Oliver Fisher -

What was AC Milan’s strength last season – their impressive away form – has now become a weakness as the team are struggling away from home.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan are in seventh place for away form in Serie A this season with 19 points at an average of 1.36 per game in 14 games played, with 5 wins and five defeats along with 4 draws. The Rossoneri have only scored 16 goals away from San Siro, conceding 19.

Looking at the other teams around them, Napoli have 34 points away from home this season, Inter have 33 and Juventus the same. For the Rossoneri, their average at home is 2.23 points per game with 9 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats, plus 28 goals scored  and 17 conceded.

Last season Milan made their away form their strength as they amassed 46 points in 19 games (14 wins, 4 draws and only one defeat, the 4-3 at the Artemio Franchi against Fiorentina). The team scored 41 goals and conceded just 19, a figure they have already equaled in March.

However, last season Milan got 40 points at San Siro at an average of 2.11 per game, while this season their average is 2.23 meaning home form has slightly improved.
