From Spain: Milan and Barcelona battling to sign 30-year-old Real Betis defender

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are battling with Barcelona for the signing of Real Betis defender Marc Bartra, according to a report from the Spanish press.

SPORT have published a report that centres around Barca’s interest in signing the 30-year-old Bartra as they look to resolve their defensive problems. With him on the pitch, Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis have won 11 of their last 12 games played including a victory at the Camp Nou, during which he clearly left an impression.

Milan are also in the market for a new centre-back after Simon Kjaer’s season-ending knee ligament injury and they have got Bartra on a list of potential targets who could come in and provide experienced cover.

However, the idea of a return to Barcelona certainly appeals to Bartra. He started his career with the Catalan side, where he played 103 games and scored six goals across seven seasons. He also racked up 13 trophies including five league titles before being sold to Dortmund in 2016.

    1. Say it to Kjaer who joined us from the Spanish league. Experience is always good. If there’s a chance to sign another Kjaer I would be more than happy.
