CorSera: Milan’s objective is clear – beat Lazio and set up a double derby in the cup

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will be looking to build on their derby win against Inter on Saturday by beating Lazio in the cup quarter-final tonight to set up two more derbies.

As il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports, the victory against Inter brought great enthusiasm to the squad but now that feeling must be channeled into the game against Maurizio Sarri’s side tonight, with the knowledge that the Nerazzurri are waiting in the semi-finals to play the winner.

Milan have not won the competition since 2002-03 and it is precisely for this reason that the club are taking it seriously. Olivier Giroud will lead the attack after his heroics against Inter, while Fikayo Tomori should be back on the bench ready to come on if needed, and the same for Ante Rebic.

Winning the Coppa Italia would also mean guaranteeing a spot in the SuperCoppa which would in fact bring about €10m in revenue to the Rossoneri. However Pioli will not look too far ahead, and tonight’s game is the focus.
