CorSera: Milan must be at their best against a modern and attacking Salzburg

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan begin their 2022-23 Champions League journey tonight with a tough test in Austria against an in-form Red Bull Salzburg side.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how the Milan squad have barely had the time to enjoy the victory in the derby against Inter because three days later it is time for the Champions League debut in Salzburg.

The comeback win against Inter will give the right motivations to the Rossoneri as they aim to start their European campaign with a win it what is an obvious quest to at least make it out of the group stages.

However, Milan should not underestimate Salzburg because they are a very young team that play modern, attacking and quality football. Pioli knows that tonight he must see the best Milan to bring home the three points.

The forwards will be key for that, with Olivier Giroud still charged up after scoring in the derby as the Frenchman is looking for the first goal in the Champions League with the Rossoneri, and then of course Rafael Leao who scored a decisive brace against Inter (plus an assist) and wants to fully announce himself on the biggest stage.
