MN: Botman-Bremer duel reignites after January – Milan get the approval of both

By Oliver Fisher -

The transfer market always provides fluid and ever-changing scenarios, and it seems AC Milan’s pursuit of a new centre-back falls into that category.

According to MilanNews, it seems the favoured and potentially the only option that Milan were considering was Sven Botman of Lille but Newcastle United have once again emerged as a competitor in the race for the Dutchman just as they did back in January.

Botman – as evidenced by a recent video in which he smiles as soon as Milan were mentioned – much prefers the idea of joining the Rossoneri and playing in the Champions League. He has even agreed terms over a five-year deal, but Newcastle’s insistence and a higher offer compared to Milan’s €30m leaves things open.

Milan are therefore looking at alternatives and Torino’s Gleison Bremer is on the list, just as he was in the winter. Inter and Tottenham are also keen on the Brazilian, who was voted the best defender of the 2021-22 Serie A season, while the player would approve of the idea of joining Milan and will leave for €25m.

Hmmm…. Who to believe? The forum member here who claims “it’s too late” and “he’s already agreed to Inter” or the transfer rumor experts? 🙂

    1. Well he did agree with Inter, literally everyone knows that, the only reason he didn’t sign is because Inter need to sell first to make that signing. Could Milan change his mind, maybe, but I don’t know a single player that would rather join the club where he is a backup option opposed to the club that made him 1st choice, considering they are around the same level.

      1. Usually the confidence of professional players is on that “I will be a starter”-level and they’re not afraid to get on the bench – or fight for the their spot.

If one is afraid of competitions, then it’s better to settle for a midtable team and no trophies. Just ask e.g. Romagnoli.

    2. Calling MilanNews ‘transfer rumour experts’ is like calling McDonalds ‘burger experts’.

Quantity and quality are not the same thing! There are authoritative sources out there but sites like this one, calciomercato and MN are definitely not those!

  3. Voted the best defender…even ahead of Tomori…tells you everything you need to know. This is the part I can’t stand…while every other team is wrapping up deals we’re shying away from great signings. Either get bremer or sign up romanogli again. We still got the legend Kjaer coming back and use the cash elsewhere for CDK, Sanches and another sh*t hot striker, then we’re done and can get them working together for a month. I’d really prefer no leaks and just move quick and stealthily in the market so I can wake up to actual news.

    1. Every other team is wrapping up deals? Who would that be? The transfer window opened today, no deals could be done before now other than those whose contracts are up. And name me one major deal in Italy of that type that is signed. That’s right, there are none.
I bet you are the type who goes to one dealer and pays the list price if you want a new car.

  4. If I were a betting man, I’d put a large sum on neither being a Milan player, starting to sound more like rumours for the sake of it.
