GdS: Milan’s pursuit of Botman difficult but not impossible due to club relations – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are trying hard to get their number one January target Sven Botman but it will be far from an easy pursuit, according to a report.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports, Simon Kjaer will have to remain on the sidelines for the rest of the season after knee ligament damage and that is why Milan are searching for a new central defender, with Botman established as the player that everyone at the club agrees would be the perfect target.

The deal is complicated given that the asking price is €30m, but not impossible given the excellent relations between the two clubs as seen in the Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan deals. Lille are also experiencing a tough moment financially and may have to sell even though they raised some cash from Jonathan Ikone’s move to Fiorentina.

Milan want to sign Botman via the same operation as they did for Tomori: a high loan fee with an option to buy at the end of the season. However, Premier League sides have also set their sights on the 21-year-old Netherlands international and seem ready to pay money up front.
