MN: The Botman situation and why Milan’s owners know investment in the squad is needed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan face a difficult battle to convince Lille to sell Sven Botman under their ideal conditions, a report claims, but the management are trying their best.

MilanNews writes that the Rossoneri management are working to take a sign a defender to cover for Simon Kjaer’s absence but also secure the long-term solidity of the department, hence why the owners considering making a sizeable investment if the opportunity arises.

The club have not forgotten that the project is based on sporting success while following the path of financial sustainability, because good results on the field creates revenues, which are reinvested in the sporting area, which creates more successes and more revenues that will be reinvested to create a virtuous cycle.

Sven Botman is the most popular name and relations with Lille are excellent, while every part of the club agree on his profile, but the asking price set by the French club is too high at the moment. Alternative formulas are studied such as a loan with option to buy that can turn into obligation, but Lille do not seem inclined to accept.

They have just sold Ikoné to Fiorentina and do not want to dismantle the team, so Maldini and Massara will continue to work without ignoring other options, and next few days new names could emerge as agents are at work too.
