MN: Milan have ‘strong interest’ in Lyon midfielder who could be Investcorp’s third signing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s interest in signing Maxence Caqueret from Lyon has been confirmed, and he could well follow two signings that should arrive to start the Investcorp era.

RMC Sport reported earlier today that Caqueret has received a good offer to extend his contract at Lyon but he is now reflecting on his future after receiving a bid from Milan, with his current deal expiring in June 2023.

The offer from the Rossoneri is making him think because Milan will play in the Champions League next season and are in another Scudetto battle, while Lyon are eighth in Ligue 1 and seven points behind the European places.

According to what is being reported by Antonio Vitiello of MilanNews, there is ‘strong interest’ in Caqueret on the part of Milan but ‘there are no offers at the moment’. He adds that Milan will have a summer market to improve the quality of the squad, starting with Sven Botman and Divock Origi from Lille and Liverpool respectively.

After those two, the focus will be on the attacking department and specifically the trident behind the centre-forward, but more information will only arrive when the new owners are in charge.
