Sky: Milan looking for a centre-back but Gabbia could remain regardless

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management want to sign a new central defender before the window closes but Matteo Gabbia’s future is not linked to that pursuit, it is claimed.

According to what Gianluca Di Marzio told Sky during Calciomercato L’originale (via MilanNews), Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are still on the lookout for the right opportunity to give Stefano Pioli a centre-back to complete the department after Alessio Romagnoli’s departure.

Several profiles have been evaluated and are being monitored currently, but any potential signing for the rearguard is not concretely linked to the future of Matteo Gabbia.

Despite the fact that Gabbia continues to be linked with a loan move to Sampdoria where he would reunite with former head coach Marco Giampaolo, the Rossoneri could choose to keep hold of him at least until the January mercato to ensure there is adequate cover for what is a hectic schedule between now and the World Cup.
