Former AC Milan coach Vincenzo Montella has praised the job that Stefano Pioli is doing with the squad and pointed out that it is a team that isn’t full of star quality.
Speaking during an interview with Radio Anch’io sport on Radio Rai (via Milan News), the man who used to have the same job as Pioli refused to let his view of the coach be changed by the recent draw with AS Roma.
Milan were 2-0 up against the Giallorossi with just a few minutes left to play on Sunday night when two goals went in from set pieces to allow Napoli to move seven points clear at the top of the table.
Despite that disappointment, Montella thinks Pioli is doing a great job, saying: “In football one has a short memory, I think Pioli has done and is doing an extraordinary job together with the club.
“How much you can spend must be weighed and certainly Milan, net of all this, between wages and money spent in the market, it is the club that has saved the most. I think we have done a great job.”
Montella also discussed the fact that Pioli is not blessed with a squad that is full of players that can be considered Scudetto-winning level.
“Sometimes the coach is criticised, but he is doing a great job. He probably doesn’t have 18 players of the same level to be able to aim for the Scudetto every year,” he said.
And yet so many armchair managers want Pioli out…
Well, even if it’s for his own good.
A manager should be able to convince the management about the players he needs to get the job done.
Then should Singh big players for pioli for his work done 👍
