MN: An ‘almost exhausting summer’ – Milan competing against themselves in mercato

Whilst AC Milan are making moves in the mercato, there is a need to do more, and fans are slightly frustrated with some movements.

It is nothing new for fans to be frustrated with the mercato. After all, everyone holds different opinions on different players and who should or shouldn’t arrive. However, there is a general wave of annoyance towards Milan this summer, despite the business done.

That is not to say that the transfers that have already been made are not proving good. But the lack of other key moves is frustrating some, as MilanNews writes.

Questionable business

After a ‘disastrous’ finish, the expectations placed on this summer were higher than ever. Considering it was no longer an improvement period, but a complete turnover. More is certainly expected, as is written in the deep dive, understandably.

There are positives seen so far in the recruitment, as seen against Arsenal, the team played in a distinct manner. However, the lack of shots is a cause for concern, and questions can be asked moving forward.

The window does not end tomorrow, which must be remembered. However, there is a need for the urgency to be shown that everyone desires a better Milan, and a significantly better one at that.

  1. It’s not even August and we have brought in Ricci, modric, estupinin, terracciank and possibly jashari. Also have gotten rid of some deadweight. I think it has been pretty positive so far.

  2. We can always rely on Ben to keep the negativity rolling. So glad you haven’t been back on the podcast with Ollie and co. “Milan have only completed 6 deals in 3 weeks omg the season is over”
    Trash blogging Ben

    1. Terrible comment. If your car is broken and the mechanic explains you why, you would be angry at the mechanic? SM is doing a great job reporting the news and some might not please you but it is what it is, nobody is happy to have such a chaotic football team every year.

  3. Ricci, Modric, Estupinan have been brought in so far. We’ve sold some players, and actually sold Emerson fully to a Brazilian team to save on wages.

I have a multitude of issues with the ownership. But Tare is trying to fix the past wrongs. I think it’s been a 6.5 out of 10 so far, and I will up that score when other moves are completed.

Doue and Jashari will be completed.

Maybe it would be wiser to wait until the transfer market is closed before casting a wide reaching judgment?

    1. Same here Goku as there is a lot I can criticize this ownership and management for but as things stands I have no issues with Tare but funny enough according to various articles while he was at Lazio then Maldini actually also wanted to bring him to the club but Lotito refused to let him go back then. My judgment will also certainly first come at that point as well but overall as things stands we haven’t done too shabby even if I’m starting to get a bit tired of how the Jashari deal has dragged out but I suspect my finger can be pointed in a different direction than on the Albanian.

      1. Looks like they’re pushing harder for Jashari and trying to get closer to what they’re asking. So I think we will get him.

This website is all over the place really.

        1. It does indeed seem like it will be finalized soon.

Yeah it is but that is the format of the website so nothing new under the sun there.

  4. They created the problems for themselves. We don’t need many signings if at all any this off season. Those players last year were more than capable of finishing top 4. The coaching was that bad, that’s where the problems stem from. And the odd January transfer activities didn’t help either

    1. Very true, the coaching was the bad choice. Milan last season were scoring alot but suffered from defence lapses in every game. Allegri will solve the defensive part of the team but our attacking will be the problem.

    2. They don’t want top 4. They haven’t spent over €300 million to finish in the top 4. They want the scudetto and to go far in Europe.

  5. Milan transfer market has been good so far. Ricci, Modric, Terracciano, Estupinan, with negotiations ongoing for Doue, Jashari and Vlahovic. So what’s the problem?

Only Napoli is having a better transfer so far than Milan and they have loads of money to spend from selling Oshimen and Kravatschelia. Sigh.

    1. Its beyond me how Galatasaray can buy him for 75 mil and even persuade him to join them, with all due respect to the turks I would have imagined him joining a far bigger European club.

        1. Anthony Martial or what ? the guy plays in Greece so I doubt he will be super expensive. Either way buying Oshimen for 75mil is well beyond Galatasarays means and that is even without considering his steep salary so please elaborate because from the looks of it, it seems like its bound to come back and bite them in the rear end if they want to be able to keep playing in European competitions.

          1. No, Anthony that was on loan from Man Utd last season? Ajax guy? You didn’t see how good he did?

They have money from sponsors, check their new deal. Most Turkish clubs. Also they are paying only 40M now and other 35 over 2 years.

          2. Oh that fella well that is seemingly only a loan with no option so hardly comparable from the looks of it to me.

Still Galatasaray doesn’t have any sales this season and they can’t just spend as they please otherwise they will risk a European competition ban and that is even without considering his annual salary which i assume will be a lot higher tahn what even pay to any player. Add to that wasn’t Galatasaray already having ffp issues last season as I recall at least 1 Turkish team being in trouble on that part.

  6. The fans can’t really wait any longer for the managements to get the necessary players before other clubs go for them. Tare should hasten up and get Doue , Jashari , and Vlahovic . If Vlahovic is proving too difficult to get , go for Ramos in PSG and stop all these delaying tactics . Please try and spend this money so we can be back on top as the Italian giant club again , Milan team has long been down in teams pecking order around the world , no team is even afraid of milan again, its really a pity . The board needs to do something about getting the right players to make the fans happy again cos Milan have lost their pride of a Champion.
    FORZA MILAN

  7. They played 5-4-1 w Rafa up top and defended vs Arsenal. They’ll do similar tomorrow. Then Modrić and Gimenez will arrive and the formation can be adjusted. Rafa is not a striker. Historically his finishing has let him down. But you got Allegri so don’t expect wide open play even in September. Based on the way it has been explained that Leow will be further up the pitch with midfielder covering him out of possession and Pulisic dropping back off offensively the year will depend on Leao making that step to approaching world class. Much more pressure for him to deliver being the focal point in attack. Hopefully limited defensive responsibility will slow him to find consistency

  8. They brought this on themselves with their incompetency and arrogance. At least with Tare I’m hopeful there’s a better plan in place then in previous seasons where there was none. And Allegri will add much needed stability and calmness to this bunch too.

  9. When you look at the rest of Serie A, it’s the same, a lack of movement and no notable signings. The league has been in decline for 20 years. The FIGC and Serie A need to do more to develop Italian players and the prime minister needs to bring in legislation to help with the building of stadiums. It’s shameful that clubs from Turkey and Germany, a garbage league, can outbid any Italian club.
