AC Milan managed to secure the renewal of Ismael Bennacer as last night’s official announcement confirmed, but now there is another crucial contract extension to secure.
MilanNews writes that directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara hope that Rafael Leao will be the next to commit his long-term future to the club, and the words of the technical director are certainly encouraging.
“We’re feeling it, we’re listening, there are video calls and we don’t necessarily have to meet in person. We’ll try to reach a solution. It seems to both sides want to and now we want to try to be able to close,” he said.
“As we have tried to do in the last year and a half where then many things have happened: our will is there and that of the player seems to be there.”
The starting point for the talks therefore is that Leao is very much open to continuing his adventure with the Rossoneri after having been at the club for over three years, carving out a leading role and being recognised as the Serie A MVP.
The report adds that in the coming days further meetings are scheduled to define the situation. Optimism is the buzzword coming from Milan over the signing of a renewal worth €6.5m net per season plus €1.2m in bonuses.
