Tuttosport: Milan convinced by Origi – his signing would preserve budget for other roles

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan mangement are busy planning how the attack of the future will look and they are focusing on signing Divock Origi, a report claims.

According to Tuttosport (via MilanNews) the Rossoneri have had contact with the entourage of the 26-year-old Belgian, who would not mind a new adventure after a far from satisfactory experience in the Premier League in terms of playing time.

He would arrive as a free agent and has a salary within the reach of Milan given that with Liverpool he earns €2.35m net per season, meaning the costs of the deal are in line with the club’s parameters.

Maldini and Massara are continuing to weigh up the advantages and disadvantages of going for Origi, who is a player with the right experience to strengthen Pioli’s squad in this respect as well. He has just 14 appearances so far this season but has scored 5 goals and has added 3 assists.

The signing of Origi would allow managers to be able to transfer the budget available for the summer to other roles such as a centre-back (Sven Botman the main target) a midfielder who can replace Kessie (like Renato Sanches) and a right winger (like Domenico Berardi).

  1. Origi is younger and has the physical characteristic that pioli likes for that position. If milan were to sign bellotti may be he could be placed as right attackng winger, i dont know but both will be good signing i guess

    1. Younger?! FFS, he’s only 2 years younger and he has never scored double digits. Has Belotti ever scored single digits per season?

      This is a no-brainer! GET MOTHERF*NG BELOTTI!!!

  2. So does that mean we would not be getting belloti on free too cos I don’t know why this management has choose to take a new adventure than take a well known belotti who understand the league better my opinion tho.

  3. I can’t believe people are still raving about Belotti and Berardi. Do any of you remember what both of them did in Euros? Exactly, because they did literally nothing. It was as if they weren’t even there. Both of those guys are Serie A mid tear players, great in their mediocre teams, playing low pressure games when there are zero expectations and where they can do no wrong because the rest of the team sucks. They are great if you want to fight for top 4 spots, maybe even be a contender for Scudetto, but they would be like deer in headlights in UCL.

Origi plays in the toughest most physical league, he is himself used to high intensity and high pressure games, isn’t injury prone, doesn’t mind being in rotation and does his job when he is called upon. Getting Origi on free is a great deal. We would be lucky to have him.

    1. Both are average players, been saying that over a year. I rate Berardi a bit higher but you can get much better players for that money and Belotti, well you can see how valued he is by the scouts and football professionals when they won’t even take him for free.

    2. Belloti n Berardi has felt with Milan many times to prove to use they are good. In seriaA today you can’t write them off. Speaking about Euros is d coach pattern of play is not ok the players is achieve less

  4. Origi is only 26? Feels like he’s been around forever.
Given the salary he would earn (2.8M per year) and the fact that he’s a free agent, then he’s perfect.
Yeah, not a star striker, but very smart business to replace Ibra who is 40. I like this.

  5. I don’t think Belotti suits our system and is only a forward whereas Origi can play on the right and as a centre forward and also has a bigger physical presence than Belotti.
