Tuttosport: Milan’s crisis deepens in the capital – Pioli only knows ‘one way out’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan failed to provide a reaction of any kind against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, losing 4-0 to continue a torrid run of form.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how after the Supercoppa defeat against Inter, all Milan fans expected a big response against Lazio, but unfortunately things went very differently. Instead the Rossoneri were overwhelmed 4-0 in a match dominated from the first to the last minute by Maurizio Sarri’s side.

It was an evening to forget instead for Stefano Pioli who tried to analyse what is a very difficult period at the moment during his post-match interviews.

“We have to get back to Milanello quickly and work well, it’s clear that the performances were not up to our possibilities. Right now there are so many things that aren’t working, from a mental and tactical point of view. I’m here to talk because I have to, we should shut up and work: it’s a delicate moment, in the last two weeks and a half we didn’t provide good performances,” he said.

Pioli then reiterated that the only way out of the difficult moment is to work hard on the principles that made the team successful last season.

“The approach is one of the problems, not the only one. I only know one way out: working to better develop situations who now see us in difficulty,” he said.

The Milan boss therefore took the opportunity to reiterate that there is no time for the squad to feel sorry for themselves, and instead they can only get out of the current tunnel with hard work.

  1. Very soon many will stop watching this American soccer. People will cancel TV agreements and also stop go to San Siro . Americans back us to Chinese era.

  2. Thank goodness for that. I thought we were in trouble, but there’s an easy fix; work hard and play better, but carry on flogging the same old dead horse.

  3. Blame the fake Italian Cardinale. He said he loves winning but he has done nothing to help the team at all except try to sign trash American players to raise shirt sales. We will be back to our banter era for the rest of the 2020s until Deadbird sells us and Leao and Theo and all the quality players will (rightfully) leave this club

  4. A MAJOR shake-up is needed. Training, Formation, tactics, line up. And i mean being radical and sending a message.
Pure 4-3-3 formation. More pragmatic and direct like in 2021.
Like the new GK in post.
Gabbia + Thiaw CD Partnership. Gabbia with his few minutes has been our best CD so far this season anyway. Bozzolan at LB. Kalulu to RB…PERMANENTLY !!
Rebic or CDK can rest Giroud, the man freakin needs a rest. CDK, Rebic or Diaz are capable of playing RW. Saele is capable of playing LW.

But despite my over-shot hopefullness, the sad thing is Pioli will most likely field the same players in the same formation, bar replacement for injured players, which seems to be the only reason why Pioli make any kind of changes anyways.
In which case though i’ve come to respect and admire him a lot, changing my perception of him and all that, that would mean hes woefully out of his depths and hence, #PIOLI_OUT

  5. Oh ok got it play the same lineup with the same formation. We need a new coach, I appreciate what Pioli did to turn this around 3 Years ago, but it seems he’s out of ideas.
