Tuttosport: Milan admirers of €40m playmaker but two obstacles must be overcome

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking for options to reinforce their attacking department ahead of the 2022-23 season and are targeting Charles De Ketelaere, a report claims.

The 21-year-old Club Brugge attacking midfielder has caught the eye with his impressive emergence over the last couple of seasons given that he has has scored 22 goals and has added 17 assists since the beginning of the 2020-21 campaign.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, Milan are keen on the Belgian but there are two problems that could thwart anything concrete from happening. The first is that several Premier League clubs are keen on him too, and the second is the high asking price that Brugge have set which is already at €40m.

Elliott Management have already shown a willingness to invest in young talent during their tenure as seen with purchases like Rafael Leao and Fikayo Tomori, but it remains to be seen if those in charge deem De Ketelaere to be worth such an amount.

      1. Yeah but we don’t have 40m to spend on this position. We do have a greater need at RW and then CB. We do also need to improve at AMC but we technically already have two players than can play in that position and we can’t write Adli off before he’s even been given a chance. If anything it seems any major investment here would have to wait for 2023. Now, if we signed Dybala on a free for RW…

        1. Why do we need a CB that much? We have Tomori and Kalulu who look great, Kjaer will be back for next season and Gabbia is there. Basically we already have starters and 2 young backups, we need one more experienced player as 5th choice, not a new talent, but ok.
Adli doesn’t really play as AMC, so we’ll see how he adapts to the league and a more advanced position, but you can look at his stats and compare to any other real AMC and it is obvious. Our 2nd AMC is Diaz that lost his position to Krunic, Kessie etc, so not even AMCs. We need a CB more with 2 good players and 2 good talents but we don’t need an AMC with one player that didn’t really play there and another that is playing horribly? Another thing, Dybala isn’t a RW.

  1. Immediate buy. If there is only one guy I could have this summer, it’s Chuck. Kid is an absolute world beater. Get him at the bargain price of €40m while you can because this dude is worth a Kevin DeBruyne-level transfer fee. This kid is a top-10 MF once he reaches his prime, no doubt about it.

    1. If he is that good, he will definitely end up playing in England. I do not see Milan paying 30-40 mil for one player only. This is very risky. For that kind of money he should make an immediate impact upon the game. But I don’t think that would be the case

      1. Have you watched him play for at least 20 minutes? He is different but about 3 times better than Diaz. If he is worth 22M.

  2. Most important signing for Milan will be AMC, if we get the right player we can be great even with Messias/Salaemakers on RW. This year was horrible, so much that Kessie played on AMC more than once.

  3. Whats stopping the management from being in kamara who’s gonna be a free agent?

    Kamara- free agent (kessie replacement)
    Botman- €30M (romagnoli placement)
Barak -€20M (starting AMF, Diaz as Substitute)
Noa Lang/Ismailia Sarr- €20 (RW, rotate with Origi)

The midfield should be set for next season

    Pobega, Adli, Bennacer, Tonali, Krunic

Promote Nasti and Capone to senior team. Chaka traore will also be handy
