Malick Thiaw has so far had arguably the biggest contribution of any of the 2022 summer signings, and now everyone hopes he can set the example for the others to follow.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes how Thiaw’s performance against Spurs is rightfully grabbing a lot of media attention as the 21-year-old centre-back took his opportunity in the three-man defence and helped keep Kane, Son and Kulusevski quiet in his Champions League debut.
Now, the hope is that Aster Vranckx can follow. He arrived on loan from Wolfsburg and must convince the management to sign him permanently, yet so far he is not getting the chance to do so.
Vranckx has only been on the field a few times but has shown some interesting signs, while he could advantage of the module formation change too. With Bennacer injured, both Tonali and Krunic are working overtime and therefore Pioli might choose to rotate.
There is another Belgian who could use a turning point and an injection of confidence in Charles De Ketelaere, who cost €35m and so far has no goals to his name despite scoring 18 with Club Brugge last season.
The club, the coach and the team are with De Ketelaere as seen when Leao went to console and encourage him after his miss against Spurs in the Champions League. Pioli could decide to give him another chance as a starter against Monza on Saturday, the team against whom he missed a huge chance in the reverse fixture.
Pobega, Vranckx and Bakayoko all need to go. Milan need better players that fit into Pioli system and none of these players work. All of them are very sloppy with ball at their feet and the can’t dribble pass opponents well to break the press.
Pobega should be sold to Torino in exchange for Adopo. Adopo is more like a younger version of Kessie but with better dribbling technique.
I agree with Pobega and Bakayoko, but I think Vranckx has not really been given a chance to show what he can do . I actually think Vranckx is not a bad player whether Pioli plays him is another thing
Yes – Pobega should be sold to Torino or swapped with Singo. Bakayoko’s contract is finally up so he’s gone. But Aster? He hasn’t played and thus hasn’t been given a chance why would you say he should leave? Lol. He should be playing as I agree with others that he has lots of potential and skill and believe like Thiaw he would do well if given the opportunity.
I personally have 0 expectations from Origi and hope that he gets an offer from Turkey or Qatar asap.
However Vranckx can be quite good, but his head is not screwed on well. It’s why he was benched in Germany by the end.
CDK is improving lately, possibly because people have finally stopped putting pressure on him.
