Milan defender throws his support behind Thiaw after display against Tottenham

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan defender Pierre Kalulu has spoken supportively about Malick Thiaw after his great performance for the Rossoneri in the Champions League against Tottenham.

Speaking after the match on Tuesday night to both Sky Sport and Milan TV (via Milan News), the French defender said that he hopes to see a continuation of this form from Thiaw in the future.

Thiaw started in the back three for Milan in what was a massive game, but he rose to the occasion despite limited involvement for Milan this season since joining from Schalke 04.

“He did very well. He’s ready with and without the ball, as well as in duels, even aerial ones. I’ve seen his qualities for quite some time in training. I hope he continues like this,” Kalulu said.

Kalulu also had praise for the squad as a whole and the attitude that was shown to ensure that they have a lead to protect when they travel to London to take on the Premier League side in March.

“Everyone gave their best today. We had great chances to score the second and third goals but we have to go home with a positive attitude today,” he said.

On that return game, Kalulu also made it clear that he knows what needs to be done in the second leg.

“We need to play a type of game like today’s again. At home it will be difficult but we have time to work and we have to be ready for anything,” Kalulu explained.

  1. Good improvisation, great performance. Defending was cool – neutralized Tottenham’s game-plan. Kudos to the team and coaching crew
