AC Milan sporting director Ricky Massara has confirmed the club’s desire to talk to Real Madrid about keeping Brahim Diaz beyond next summer.

The 21-year-old joined Milan from Los Blancos on a season-long loan deal and has already impressed, scoring three times including two goals in the Europa League.

There has already been speculation in the media that Milan could open talks with Real Madrid about extending his stay at San Siro beyond next June, and that seems to have now been confirmed.

Massara was interviewed by DAZN before Sunday afternoon’s game at San Siro against Fiorentina, and his comments were transcribed by MilanNews.

On Brahim Diaz: “He is doing very well and we are happy. We are convinced that he can give a lot. We will see, we will sit down with Real Madrid later on. We are very satisfied with what he has done.”

A tribute was paid on the big screen before the game to Maradona who died aged 60, and Massara provided his own words on one of football’s great icons.

On Maradona: “An absolute genius. As a child I used to go to the stadium to see Maradona. It is an immense loss. A hug to his family and loved ones.”
