AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini has insisted there is ‘always optimism’ regarding the renewal of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swede was not at Milanello on Monday to undergo his COVID-19 test ahead of Tuesday’s return to training because even more time is needed to find an agreement on the renewal, in what is becoming a long and drawn out saga.
Multiple sources are reporting how the Rossoneri are hoping that the 38-year-old will drop from his request of €7million net for a new one-year deal.
The current offer on the table from Milan is believed to be around €6million including bonuses, meaning the distance between offer and demand is not so great, but still enough to mean that the 38-year-old will likely miss the start of preseason.
Paolo Maldini was intercepted by Sky Italia outside a well-known hotel in the centre of Milano, and spoke about the future of Ibrahimovic.
“Is there optimism for Ibra? Always optimism,” he said (via MilanNews).
