CorSera: Milan will move for Dybala in 10 days if Inter have not signed him

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan will be ready to make a move for Argentine forward Paulo Dybala in 10 days if Inter have not already signed him, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera (via Milan News), Milan will be ready to open talks with Paulo Dybala and his entourage properly in 10 days.

In the meantime, Inter could unblock the deal by breaking Alexis Sanchez’s contract and selling one of either Joaquin Correa or Edin Dzeko.

They need to do that to free up space both in the squad but more importantly in the wage budget as they can’t currently confirm the signing of the Argentinian.

This repeated delay to the deal is what opens the door for a team like Milan to start trying to hijack the move. The issue is that Milan may not be able to pay the kind of wage that the forward is requesting.

He does want to stay in Italy and Milan may be his only choice if Inter don’t complete the deal.

  1. Is this similar to the “5-second rule”? Milan has to wait for ten days before signing him? This year’s transfer windows are getting more and more embarrassing for us. And we thought the January one was weak…

    1. What’s embarrassing is people complaining about no signings yet when the window isn’t even open.
They would be waiting to approach Dybala since he is correctly well down on their list, at least I sure hope he is. A last resort type of signing if nobody better can be signed.

  2. It’s like 2013 all over again with Galliani rummaging in the basement bins again. Quite simply we don’t have the money to close deals. I understand to a point the self sustainable investment model of redbird but I am suspicious. I have a feeling they want us to only spend what we can make, which means a big sale (cough) Leao. Liverpool need a Salah replacement soon…are we to become a feeder club….if we can’t give Maldini and Massara the tools then we may have just stayed with Elliot. It’s all well and good saying the transfe window hasn’t started, but Liverpool have Nunez, City Haaland…it seems to me Maldini and Massara did the hard work 6 months ago but the owners aren’t going investing. Investcorp was the one for me. They’d have made us sustainable it would have got Sanches, Botman and a few others over the line

    1. With what money?
How many times does it need to be said, you can’t spend what you don’t have.
Liverpool have Nunez and they sold Mane, Man City signed Haaland, and are looking to sell Sterling and Jesus. If you want Milan to spend big then they need to also sell an important player. Never mind the fact that the big clubs you are envying have twice if not more the income of Milan, of course they can spend more. If you want Milan to have more money, go shopping on their website, buy a season ticket, anything to put more in their account. If you are not doing so but are complaining that they aren’t spending enough you are clearly part of the problem and not part of the solution.

      1. You’ve kind of missed the point on many levels. People advanced the argument that the transfer window isn’t open as justification for Milan not spending. I referenced Nunez and Haaland as examples that it is very much alive and kicking. Investcorp were prepare to invest, in players they even stated the desire to sign Nunez as a gift to the fans. He may have chosen Liverpool regardless, but there’s many other options. They can spend …this can happen as Elliot left the club in a good financial state. I don’t want to be spending 100m plus on players, I like our model of youth (Leao, Tonali, Tomori).

And the if you’re not buying merchandise you’re part of the problem not the solution…do me a favour….lol. You think Milan haven’t been selling merch for the last 20 years, or season tickets. The stadium has always been the issue, Juve sorted it out the minute they got back into Serie A. The stadium needs addressing, I’m sure Redbird will do it, but we have just won the scudetto and I think the status quo is already back with inter with them getting Lukaku and I’m sure they’ll get Bremer. Making key signings isn’t just about that signing, it’s a message to the likes of Theo, Leao and Tonali who are being and will continue to be courted by the likes of Liverpool, Madrid and City…it’s also a message to a potential signing…if we had Botman and Sanches signed up, a player like Zaniolo, DeKetalaere or Dybala may see that as an ambitious Milan looking to grow from last year…as it stands as others have said it’s just all ‘soon’. You strengthen from a position of strength…

You say with what money, but the new owners have said they want to make Milan greet again, liken them to the Yankees…did they think that would be done through smiles and handshakes…don’t be naive and think they didn’t expect to be spending some money. Of course we don’t know the numbers we are surmising, but if we can’t get Botman and Sanches over the line it isn’t looking good is it. Elliot spent more than Redbird seem to be prepared to

        1. Drew, with all respect, what part of FFP do you not understand? Those other sides who bring in way more than Milan are selling players to buy new ones. You CAN NOT have the owners use their own money to fund transfers. It’s really quite simple, why does almost nobody on here grasp that? Investcorp who I am sure you actually know nothing about, but just think that since they are based in the middle east are overflowing with money would also not have been allowed to spend their own money. They are a hedge fund, not a sovereign wealth fund like the ownership of Man City, PSG and now Newcastle.
Redbird owns the Yes network, which televises the Yankess. They most likely have a plan to do something similar for Milan. If so, in the future there will be more to spend. As it currently stands Milan is under a statement agreement with UEFA, they have to balance the books this year or no more European football.
Oh, and Botman and Sanches signing with a team will never cause anyone else to do so. They are far, far from “big” name players. Neither is any sort of superstar and Milan missing out on them is not that big of a loss.

  3. The FFP rules are the FFP rules regardless of whether you are a hedge fund, an Arab oil tycoon or a nation state, so using that nugget isn’t relevant, City and PsG are answerable to FFP as well. Liverpool sell Mane, yet they are most likely going to go in for Bellingham or another very expensive midfielder, Mane sale isn’t going to cover that plus Nunez and their other signings, I suspect their savings from Mane’s salary will go somewhat to them keeping Salah content. I understand FFP fine thanks, no need for your patronising tone, Elliot have pretty much balanced the books (unless I’m mistaken) if not heavily eroded the massive debt the club faced a few years ago, and on that basis and as I understand it losses can be run over a period of time. Take Newcastle, They were left in good shape by Ashley and can run losses over a 5 year period. Elliot have done a great job balancing the books. As for the Statement agreement, hasn’t that ‘expired’/due to be reviewed?

I am not for a moment expecting 80+ million on 4-5 players, not do I want that, believe me nobody finds the current state of football as abhorrent as I do, but we need new players and they cost some money, so please don’t confuse me with someone playing football manager. Milan will make money from sales this summer, (Hauge, Gabbia, Caldara, Rebic, Saelemaekera) buying can forgo the sales, just as Haaland has been signed ahead of Sterling being sold. The point I’m making is that Elliot spent 30m a piece(give or take) on Leao, Tonali and Tomori, that shouldn’t be unachievable. Failing that there are ways to structure deals such as the Kessie deal with a 2 year loan with an option to buy. If there was a no money before the takeover why were Maldini and Massara going to such huge lengths on Botman and Sanches?. This is one reason we should be going all out for Dybala…perhaps we are, nobody knows…

Reference Sanches and Botman, both are great prospects, no offence but if Maldini eyes an relatively unknown defender for Milan then that’s good enough for me, and Sanches clearly has talent, just hasn’t had the setting to fulfil it. Notwithstanding I agree that neither is a huge loss although there’s something about both Stam and Maldini endorsing Botman that makes me think he will be a loss at some point. There are however many alternatives.

We clearly have the ability to make signings, would Maldini and Massara have made inroads into these players for 6 months if the sanctions forbade us from signing them? It seems what Maldini and Massara were expecting from Elliot pre takeover for the Mercato has been withdrawn by Redbird..it seems Maldini’s frustration mirrors this sentiment.

Perhaps I’m wrong. Anyhow as per the theme of the article, the issue here is waiting for Inter before we make a move..
