GdS: What Milan stand to earn from reaching Champions League semi-finals

By Euan Burns -

It is no secret that the Champions League is where the money is in European football and AC Milan have been reaping the rewards of getting to the quarter-finals where they will face Napoli.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan), whilst the players will take the field on Wednesday night at San Siro focused on the sporting benefits of reaching the semi-finals, the executives will have an eye on the balance sheet.

For reaching the semi-finals, Milan would receive an extra €12.5 million from UEFA. This is on top of the €9.6m for reaching the round of 16 and the €10.6 million for reaching the quarter-finals.

The ticket sales can also be added in along with the increased share of the market pool at the end of the campaign. Milan have so far received €71 million from UEFA for their involvement in the Champions League.

These figures and what could come with victory over Napoli are crucial to Milan’s future.
