Journalist claims Milan employees are shocked by ‘brutal’ Maldini and Massara news

By Oliver Fisher -

There is shock resonating in the floors of Casa Milan amid the managerial revolution that is currently taking place, a journalis thas claimed.

MilanNews are among the reliable sources reporting that Gerry Cardinale has decided to fire Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara from their position as technical and sporting director respectively.

There is still no official announcement, but the decision has now been made after Cardinale met Maldini in a hotel in the centre of Milan and communicated that there is no longer a place for him among the management group.

According to Eurosport journalist Guillaeme Maillard-Pacini, nobody at Milan saw the sudden dismissals of Maldini and Massara coming, which came 24 hours after Zlatan Ibrahimovic not only left the club but retired from football altogether.

An employee summarised the current feeling at the club: “We are all in shock, both in substance and form. The players are too, they lost two figures like Zlatan and Paolo in 24 hours. It’s as hard as it is brutal.”

If you follow our Substack none of this would come as a surprise, given we reported last week that there are some differences that have arisen between the pair.

  1. Yeah, we need an official communication from Redbird. We need something that explains why and how we go forward.

  2. It was overdue. Let’s not forget how long and laborious Maldini and Massara’s renewal was last year after winning the scudetto. It seems as if Cardinale unwillingly decided to keep them both, having already a radical change in mind since the (alleged?) acquisition of the club from Elliot. The failed mercato of last summer and the “CDK affair” are just a excuses and only the tip of the iceberg.

    1. Why are only focused on what they did wrong? What of all the good they did. Like signing Theo, tomori, bennaccer, maignan, and so on. Football is laden with failed transfers. The good always out weigh the bad.

  3. Cardinale gave 6 million to Maldini in less than 24 hours, and he burned out it on Dest, who wasn’t even able to gain fitness and become competitive in the squad. Not to mention to play…
The point is burning easily money doesn’t guarantee the success and pitch performance.

    1. Lol…you must be one of the american’s joker…Maldini and Massara brought a dozen of quality players with candy money…when you try to sign some young talents its important who you send there to try to convince them..Paolo was an idol for so many generation…We will see from now on his importance…Im pretty sure Zlatan will come back pretty soon taking the bench or some management role. The scenario was build when he went to play in Usa for sure.Im 41 ,been a milanista from 6 years old, maybe this is a sign that its time for me to let football and Milan go from my heart…last 2,3 years traveled alot to Milano and all the italy to support them but without Paolo something is not right for me animore…Godbye Zlatan and Goodbye my first true love.

      1. It’s hard to explain to idiots Stanley that our two right backs got injured hence Dest was the only option available 🤦‍♂️
We didn’t get Dest to buy, we got him strictly for cover

  4. All this people buying Milan don’t care about the fans all they care about is money not football…belosconi is the only person who care about Milan…

  5. I have a feeling Cardinale is finally realizing the scale of his F* up with this decision. Lol
