AC Milan will try and find a way to agree a renewal with Rafael Leao but it is an issue that is unlikely to be resolved soon, it is claimed.
Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky (via MilanNews) gave an update on the situation linked to Leao, stating that Milan need to try and get the winger to extend ‘as soon as possible’ and above all to get through the January transfer window.

That is because there will be active teams next month. Chelsea, for example, received the bad news that Armando Broja’s injury will see him out for the rest of the season and they will therefore sign another striker. Then, if they have the economic power to present an offer of €100m+ for Leao, Di Marzio ‘does not know’ what will happen.
Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara ‘want to try to renew his contract and will do everything to do so’. If the player makes it just an economic question then he could leave, but if it were a matter of signing somewhere he feels valued, then Leao may well renew.
If the player wants to stay, he is very, very welcome. If he doesn’t want to stay, let him go.

Doesn’t a club that is willing to spend 70+ million on a transfer fee and give Leao a salary closer to 10 mil makes him feel valued or only Milan makes him feel valued
No, because 100 mil + transfers, + 10+million salary is peanuts for some Clubs. And Those clubs have many players like that on Bench. Felix or Grealish for example.
Players are valued based on the value they bring to the club.
If Leao brings value(goals+assists) to Chelsea or whatever else club buys him, they will value him. If not, they won’t. But them willing to pay so much means that they value him to begin with.
For 2.5 years Leao wasn’t valued at Milan. And right now he isn’t valued at Milan just because he is a Milan player, he is valued because of his goals and assists.
At the end of the day you have to perform and produce. If Leao goes back to how he played his 2+ seasons at Milan neither you or anyone else will value him
I understand that a player is trying to get as high a salary as possible, especially if someone else is offering him a far larger amount, but to me this whole story about Leao doesn’t look good. If every euro is important to a player that he could get out of someone else, then the club would have to take the same attitude. A potential 100 million is starting to sound better to me.
Some prefer money over enjoying playtime on the pitch. We’ll see how it works out for Leao in Chelsea where he’ll have to defend too and will not be treated as a superstar.
Valued doesn’t always about money. It’s also about where you feel appreciated, where you feel loved.
For example, Ibrahimovic scored goals and got high salaries at Barca. He didn’t feel valued there. Same with Aguero at City.
Selling Leao will do a lot of good for both player and club, I have been saying it but some people will think it’s hating on the dude. He couldn’t start for Portugal tells you something. What the Portuguese coach said is same thing I have been saying here, he’s work rate is too poor for today’s kind of game and nobody seems to have the balls to tell him that.
I’m nore concerned about Theo than Leoa.
