AC Milan could choose to allocate any extra budget from the January transfer window towards the renewal of two crucial players, a report claims.
As reported by Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), with regard to the purchase of another goalkeeper in January such as Sportiello of Atalanta or Vicario of Empoli, the feeling is that any extra-budget will be invested for the renewals of Rafael Leao and Ismael Bennacer.
This means that at present Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are not expected to try and sign a new forward after the injury sustained by Ante Rebic, and instead will focus on tying down the current core.
Bennacer and Leao have both been linked with various top European clubs and each have a contract currently set to expire in June 2024, so striking a deal with the midfielder and the winger is a matter of urgency for the project moving forward.
